Interlinkage 

Function 

The central locking is actuated by a radio frequency signal. This achieves a greater reach for the remote control. An infrared signal is also transmitted parallel to the radio frequency signal. The infrared signal serves for actuating the convenience locking system and simultaneously for control of the central locking in the event of a malfunction in the radio frequency signal.

We differentiate between universal and selective unlocking with the central locking feature.

universal  all locking points are unlocked

selective  driver's door and tank flap are unlocked

IMPORTANT The function "selective unlocking" can be changed to "universal unlocking" by simultaneously pressing the buttons "unlock" and "lock" on the remote control key for approx. 5 sec. This operation is reversible and is confirmed by the battery indicator lamp in the remote control key flashing twice. The basic setting is "selective unlocking".

Function sequence 

The radio frequency signal is received by the antenna (2) and transferred over the overhead control panel control module (N70) as a CAN message to the electronic ignition switch control module (N73). The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) checks the coded signal and, if valid sends a CAN message to the PSE control module (A37) and to the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1). The PSE control module (A37) locks or unlocks the vehicle pneumatically and the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) confirms the operation with the turn signals.

The infrared signal travels from the receiver modules (A26/1, A26/2) to the door control modules (N69/1, N69/2).

From the door control modules a CAN message is transmitted to the electronic ignition switch control module (N73). The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) checks the coded signal and, if valid, sends a CAN message to the PSE control module (A37) and to the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1). The PSE control module (A37) locks or unlocks the vehicle pneumatically and the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) confirms the operation with the turn signal lamps.

Locking and unlocking the vehicle mechanically 

When the vehicle is locked or unlocked with the mechanical key the following are not actuated:
