Removing and installing headliner - AR68.30-P-4300FC

MODEL 210.0 as of 1.3.97

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open sliding/tilting roof IMPORTANT Electric tilting/sliding roof (Code 414a).  
2 Remove inside rearview mirror   AR68.40-P-0001F 
3 Remove overhead control panel control module   AR82.20-P-1000K
4 Remove left sun visor    
5 Detach edge guard from left, front door cutout IMPORTANT Only in roof area, as well as at A-pillar and B-pillar.  
6 Remove paneling from left A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050F 
7 Remove paneling from left B-pillar IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting. AR68.30-P-4700F 
8 Detach edge guard from left, rear door cutout IMPORTANT Only in roof area, as well as at B-pillar and C-pillar.  
9 Remove paneling on left C-pillar IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting. AR68.30-P-4490FC 
10 Remove left, rear handle    
11 Unhook clip (2) from headliner (1) at left rear    
12 Detach left plastic bearing (3) of headliner (1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Plastic bearing (3) must audibly latch.  
13 Remove rear dome lamp   AR82.20-P-0113F
14 Unhook clip (4) in dome lamp cutout    
15 Detach edge guard from right, rear door cutout IMPORTANT Only in roof area, as well as at B-pillar and C-pillar.  
16 Remove trim on right-hand C-pillar IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting. AR68.30-P-4490FC 
17 Remove right, rear handle    
18 Unhook clip (2) from headliner (1) at right rear    
19 Detach right plastic bearing (3) of headliner (1) IMPORTANT i Installation: Plastic bearing (3) must audibly latch.  
20 Detach edge guard from right, front door cutout IMPORTANT Only in roof area, as well as at A-pillar and B-pillar.  
21 Remove paneling from right B-pillar IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting. AR68.30-P-4700F 
22 Remove paneling on right A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050F 
23 Remove right sun visor    
24 Detach rail (5) of tilting/sliding roof paneling upward IMPORTANT Electric tilting/sliding roof (Code 414a).  
25 Detach headliner (1) from tilting/sliding roof frame    
26 Fold down backrests of front seats    
27 Position shift lever toward rear    
28 Cover center console and tape with adhesive tape (6) NOTES In order to prevent damage.  
29 Attach weatherstrip (7) in right door cutout NOTES In order to prevent damage.  
30 Detach headliner (1) and slide it forward IMPORTANTInstallation:  Attach clips (8) and align headliner.  
31 Remove headliner (1) for passenger door Second mechanic required.
NOTES Deformation in the areas marked (arrows) is not critical and is regarded as normal. When handled correctly, there will be no permanent deformation.		  
32 Install in the reverse order
