Removing and installing evaporator - AR83.30-P-5540E

MODEL 170, 202, 208, 210 with CODE (580) Air conditioning or, for USA, Tempmatic with CODE (581a) Automatic air conditioning

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removal, installation     
DANGER Explosion hazard  when performing welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning. Poisoning hazard  from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Injury hazard  from eye or skin contact with liquid refrigerant Never perform welding or brazing work on the closed air conditioning system or in its vicinity. Smoking and open flame is prohibited. Wear protective goggles and protective gloves, work only in well ventilated rooms. Perform repair work on air conditioning circuit only if system is discharged. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A 
NOTES Action to be taken in the event air conditioning is damaged or leaks   AH83.30-N-0004-01A 
NOTES Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture during repair work All models with air conditioning AH83.30-N-0005-01A 
IMPORTANT Notes on handling R134a refrigerant All models with R134a refrigerant AH83.30-N-0003-01A 
1 Remove AC housing Model 170 AR83.30-P-5200G 
    Model 202 AR83.30-P-5200E 
    Models 208, 210 AR83.30-P-5200F 
2 Remove heat exchanger   AR83.25-P-1100E 
3 Remove valve strip    
4 Disconnect vacuum lines from vacuum element (44)    
5 Separate blower housing (2) from air distribution housing (1), unclip 2 sliding clips (3) and 4 clips    
6 Unscrew screw (4)    
7 Remove gasket (6)    
8 Remove air distribution housing upper section (18 clips)    
9 Remove evaporator Clean air distribution housing bottom section
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Observe quantity of oil to be added when replacing evaporator

10 Unscrew screws (5) remove expansion valve (82) TORQUE SPECIFICATION
NOTES Plug openings (parts kit), replace O-rings (moisten with compressor oil). When installing, ensure that sealing strips are seated properly

11 Replace receiver/drier Models 202, 208, 210 AR83.30-P-6520E 
    Model 170 AR83.30-P-6520G 
12 Reinstall in opposite order    
13 Switch on air conditioning and allow it to idle for approx. 4 minutes IMPORTANT Set temperature dials to blue or automatic air conditioning to " Lo" Blower to max.  
14 Check air conditioning for proper function IMPORTANT Air outlet temperature at center nozzle should not drop below +5 ° C, if necessary ↓
Perform diagnosis according to Diagnosis Manual
 
15 Find leaky point in air conditioning circuit COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WE58.40-Z-1002-20A
