Removing and installing receiver/drier - AR83.30-P-6520G

MODEL 170 with CODE (580) Air conditioning or, for USA, Tempmatic with CODE (581a) Automatic air conditioning

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removal, installation     
DANGER Explosion hazard  when performing welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning. Poisoning hazard  from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Injury hazard  from eye or skin contact with liquid refrigerant Never perform welding or brazing work on the closed air conditioning system or in its vicinity. Smoking and open flame is prohibited. Wear protective goggles and protective gloves, work only in well ventilated rooms. Perform repair work on air conditioning circuit only if system is discharged. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A 
NOTES Action to be taken in the event air conditioning is damaged or leaks   AH83.30-N-0004-01A 
NOTES Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture during repair work All models with air conditioning AH83.30-N-0005-01A 
IMPORTANT Notes on handling R134a refrigerant All models with R134a refrigerant AH83.30-N-0003-01A 
1 Drain air conditioning (recycle), evacuate, charge, check for leakage NOTES Add quantity of compressor oil evacuated to refrigeration circuit when charging air conditioning  
2 Remove left inner fender (front section) in inner fender    
3 Disconnect electrical connector (1) IMPORTANT Press in retaining spring to pull off  
4 Unscrew pressure line (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION
NOTES Plug openings (parts kit)
Replace O-rings (moisten with compressor oil)
*BA83.30-P-1003-01A 
5 Loosen refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)    
6 Unscrew pressure line (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION
NOTES Plug openings (parts kit)
Replace O-rings (moisten with compressor oil)
*BA83.30-P-1003-01A 
7 Unscrew mounting nuts (4)    
8 Remove receiver/drier IMPORTANT In the event of malfunctions to the air conditioning, resulting from leakage, contamination or icing up always install new receiver/drier when replacing or repairing A/C compressor. *BF83.55-P-1005-01A 
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace O-rings (moisten with compressor oil)  
    IMPORTANT Observe quantity of oil to be added when replacing receiver/drier *BF83.55-P-1005-01A 
9 Unscrew refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)    
10 Reinstall in opposite order    
11 Switch on air conditioning and allow it to idle for approx. 4 minutes IMPORTANT Set temperature dials to blue Blower to max.  
12 Check air conditioning for proper function IMPORTANT Air outlet temperature at center nozzle should not drop below +5 ° C, if necessary ↓
Perform diagnosis according to Diagnosis Manual
 
13 Find leaky point in air conditioning circuit COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WE58.40-Z-1002-20A
