Press off ball socket, compress plastic clip with pliers and remove control pressure cable (98) |

Unscrew drain plugs (2, 4a) on torque converter and transmission, drain transmission oil |
If the transmission oil smells burnt or is interspersed with lining abrasion, the torque converter, oil cooler lines and oil cooler must be flushed out. ↓
Refer to work step 22.
If there are metal chips in the transmission oil, the torque converter must be replaced. Metal chips cannot be completely eliminated by flushing and can result in subsequent transmission damage.
Comply with the local regulations for disposing of the oil. |

Unhook exhaust system (60) at the rear mount |
Suspend on a V-belt. |

Unscrew speedometer shaft (9) or inductive sensor (85a) |

Disconnect plug connection of solenoid valves (Y3/1x1) |

Unplug Lambda sensor cable on the tunnel, loosen fixing clip |

Detach plug (8) of starter lock-out switch |
Turn plastic ring upwards |

Remove clip locking device (32) and unhook shift rod |

Disconnect vacuum line (12) |

Unscrew banjo bolts (13a) for supply and return lines of the oil cooler (13) |

Unscrew oil filter pipe (15) |

Unscrew ground strap (27) on transmission |

Unscrew transmission at engine block and remove downwards at an angle |
