Measuring the crankshaft and mounting in bearings - AR03.20-P-4355A

ENGINES 604, 605, 606 /, 611, 612 /965 /966, 613

REMOVING Removing     
1 Remove crankshaft (20) Engine 604, 605, 606 AR03.20-P-4351B 
    Engine 611, 612, 613 AR03.20-P-4351C
2 Clean engine parts IMPORTANT After a bearing damage has occurred, remove any swarf which is present in the main oil duct, the connecting rod bores, in the crankshaft and crankcase oil ducts. ↓
Knocking out and inserting a steel ball in the main oil gallery
 
    Engine 604, 605, 606 AR01.40-P-8498A
    Engines 611, 612, 613 except 612.965/966 AR01.40-P-8498B
    Engine 612.965/966 AR01.40-P-8498GLC
INSPECT Checking     
3 Check conrod IMPORTANT Perform a visual inspection after bearing damage has occurred. The stem of the connecting rod must not have any cross scores and notches. Replace conrods which have suffered overheating because of bearing damage (blue discoloration).  
4 Inspect crankshaft (20) IMPORTANT Perform a visual inspection after bearing damage has occurred. If damage is present ↓
Check crankshaft (20); repair as necessary
 
5 Mount crankshaft (20) radially Engines 604, 605, 606 AR03.20-P-4355-01A 
    Engines 611, 612, 613 except 612.990 AR03.20-P-4355-01B
    IMPORTANT A radial bearing for the main bearing on standard size crankshafts is possible by assigning the color marked bearing shells, see:

    Assign crankshaft bearing shells AR03.20-P-4360-01HA 
6 Mount crankshaft (20) axially Engines 604, 605, 606 AR03.20-P-4355-02A 
    Engines 611, 612, 613 except 612.990 AR03.20-P-4355-02B
7 Install in reverse order
