Removal and installation of the electric window lift in driver's door - ra72001400185x(0185)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 42 other vehicles, including the 1999 Mercedes-Benz S600, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S500, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S420, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S320, and 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL600. Model 140 - A. Sedan, B. Coupe 

Preliminary work:

Door liner on driver's door removed (Removal and installation of the lining on the driver's door  )

A. Sedans

Sealing rail on inside of door shaft remove.
Screws on window lift bar screw out (4 each, arrows).
Side window push up by hand and secure against falling with plastic wedge.
Window lift mechanism move to half-open position (position for removal and installation).
Electrical connections on window lift motor disconnect.
Rivets (1-4) for fastening window lift mechanism to interior door panel drill out (4 each); use 4.8 mm bit.
Installation hooks (A and B) for window lift unhook.

Window lift bar pull out of slider (arrow) at rear.
Window lift mechanism remove through installation opening.
Remaining pieces of rivets remove on window lift mechanism and out of door shaft.
Installation reinstall in opposite order. When riveting the window lift mechanism onto the interior door panel assure that the window lift mechanism is hooked onto the interior door panel and makes full contact. Use pop rivets with shank diameter of 4.8 mm.
After installation adjust window (Adjustment of the crank window in the driver's door  ).

NOTE: The window lift motor can be removed and installed without removing the window lift mechanism (see Removal and installation of electric window lift motor in driver's door  ).

B. Coupes

Window in front door remove (Removal and installation of the crank window in the driver's door  ).
Electrical connections on motor for electric window disconnect.
Rivets (arrows) for fastening window lift mechanism to inner door panel drill out (4 each), use 4.8 mm dia. drill bit.
Assembly hooks (A and B) for window lift on inner door panel unhook.
Window lift remove through installation opening.
Rivet residues remove from window lift mechanism and from door shaft.
Reassemble in opposite order. When rerivetting the window lift mechanism to the inner door panel ensure that the window lift mechanism is hooked into the inner door panel and makes full contact. Use pop rivet with shank diameter of 4.8 mm.
After installation adjust window (Adjustment of the crank window in the driver's door  ).

NOTE: The motor for the electrically operated window must be resynchronized (basic adjustment). For this purpose close window with electric window switch (not in automatic closing mode) and allow to run against stop for 1 - 2 s.

The motor for the electric window can be removed and installed without removing the window lift mechanism (see Removal and installation of electric window lift motor in driver's door  ).
