Removing and installing trailer coupling - AR31.10-P-8000S

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removing, installing    
NOTES Notes on installing a trailer coupling Models 124, 129, 140, 163, 168, 201, 202, 208, 210, 215, 220 AH31.10-P-1000-02B 
1 Remove cover of the trunk floor    
2 Connect quiescent current retention unit   *WH58.30-Z-1012-09A 
3 Remove battery    
4 Remove jack    
5 Remove car jack fixture    
6 Remove spare wheel    
7 Remove trim panel of rear center section    
8 Remove side part in left and right of trunk    
9 Remove rear bumper   AR49.10-P-4940DA
10 Remove rear muffler    
11 Remove shield above the rear muffler    
12 Unscrew trailer hitch socket (X58) from crossmember IMPORTANT 3 sheet metal bolts, allow socket (X58) to hang down at cable harness.  
13 Unscrew bolt (4) 2 bolts on both left and right, at crossmember (3) and remove crossmember (3). IMPORTANTInstallation:  Use new bolts.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, crossmember to vehicle *BA31.10-P-1001-01B 
IMPORTANT Support crossmember (3).  
14 Check seal (9), replace if necessary    
15 Remove self-locking nuts (6) at right side compartment and pull out counter tab (5) IMPORTANTInstallation:  use new nuts (6).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut to counter tab *BA31.10-P-1002-01B 
16 Remove right stiffening beam (2) from vehicle longitudinal member IMPORTANTInstallation:  The stiffening beam (2) is labeled with an "R".  
17 Loosen self-locking nuts (6) at left stiffening beam (12) IMPORTANT Counter tab (11) is on vehicle underbody.  
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Use new nuts.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut to counter tab *BA31.10-P-1002-01B 
18 Remove left stiffening beam (12) from counter tab (11) and longitudinal member IMPORTANTInstallation:  The stiffening beam (12) is labeled with "L".  
19 Unscrew bolts (8) with washer (7) on right and left of vehicle underbody. IMPORTANT The left stiffening bracket (11) is secured by two bolts (8).  
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Use new bolts (8).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, stiffening bracket to longitudinal member *BA31.10-P-1003-01B 
20 Remove counter tab (5)    
21 Remove right and left stiffening brackets (1, 11) from trunk    
22 Install in the reverse order IMPORTANT Tighten all bolts (4, 8) and nuts (6) finger-tight, align trailer coupling and then tighten with specified torque.
