Dismantling and assembling clutch K1 - AR27.51-P-0800A: Notes

TRANSMISSION 722.5

DISASSEMBLING Disassembly     
1 Remove snap ring (11) from outer multi-disc carrier (1)    
2 Take out disc assembly (6, 7, 8 and 10) and disc spring (15) IMPORTANT Check inner multi-discs for signs of scorching and wear Immerse new inner multi-discs in ATF oil for approx. 1 hour before installing  
3 Fit assembly device (020) on spring plate (4) and compress until snap ring (5) is exposed SPECIAL TOOL Assembly device Figure
4 Remove snap ring (5)    
5 Remove spring plate (4) and springs (3) IMPORTANT Note number of springs.
Do not confuse the springs from clutch K1 and clutch K2		  
6 Pull piston (2) out of outer multi-disc carrier (1)    
7 Remove radial lip-type sealing rings (12/13) from piston NOTES Check radial lip-type sealing rings and replace if necessary  
8 Remove snap ring (16) from outer multi-disc carrier (1)    
9 Remove piston guide ring (18)    
10 Remove sealing ring (17)    
ASSEMBLING Assembly     
11 Insert new sealing ring (17)    
12 Insert piston guide ring (18)    
13 Install snap ring (16) in outer multi-disc carrier (1)    
14 Install piston K1 in outer multi-disc carrier   AR27.51-P-0800-01A

15 Install spring plate (4) and springs (3)    
16 Fit assembly device (020) on spring plate (4) and compress until groove of snap ring (5) is exposed SPECIAL TOOL Assembly device Figure
17 Install snap ring (5) IMPORTANT Check for proper seating  
18 Install disc spring (15) and disc assembly (6, 7, 8 and 10) in outer multi-disc carrier (1) IMPORTANT Place bulge of disc spring on piston Note sequence of clutch discs!  
19 Insert snap ring (11) IMPORTANT After installing, use a screwdriver to press the snap ring upwards around its entire circumference  
MEASURING Measuring     
20 Use a feeler gauge to measure play "A" and adjust if necessary with the snap ring (11) IMPORTANT Snap rings are available as replacement parts in thicknesses of 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm Additional correction with the inner multi-discs is only necessary if the specified play "A" cannot be achieved with the snap ring
Inner multi-discs are available as replacement parts in thicknesses of 4.5 and 5.0 mm		 *BE27.51-P-1002-01A
