Checking camshaft timing - AR05.20-P-6015HW

ENGINE 601, 602, 603 (except, 602.982)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
1 Remove cylinder head cover    
2 Remove injection nozzles Naturally aspirated engine ra07016010230x
    Turbo engine ra07016026810x
3.1 Remove viscous fan clutch Engine 601 in model 202 AR20.40-P-5660HA
    Engine 601, 602 in Model 124, 201 AR20.40-P-5660HW
    Engine 603 in MODEL 124, 126, 140  
4.1 Remove fan Engines with fan clutch solenoid ra20006010330x
5 Attach dial gauge holder to intake valve of cylinder 1 and fit dial gauge onto valve tappet with a preload of 3 mm SPECIAL TOOL Fig 2

INSPECT Inspect     
6 Crank engine in direction of rotation until a valve lift of 2 mm is indicated IMPORTANT Engine must not be turned at the camshaft. Do not crank engine backwards during measurement, otherwise measurement errors occur.
In this position the marking at the vibration damper see table (intake valve opens ATDC) must be aligned with the TDC pointer at the timing case cover. In case of a deviation of more than 4°CA, the timing chain has to be replaced. ↓		 *BE05.20-P-1001-02C 
    Replace timing chain AR05.10-P-7601HX 
    Camshaft identification AH05.20-P-6992-03HB 
    Camshaft code number *BE05.20-P-1001-01C
