Steering Wheel: Installation

  1. DO NOT  lube slip ring contact surfaces. Ensure carbon contacts are not broken. Position steering wheel onto shaft splines. Align reference marks made during removal. On some models, steering shaft and steering wheel are splined to fit together only one way. When installing steering wheel, align turn signal restoring cam on steering shaft with combination switch tang.
  2. Install and tighten steering wheel hub bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Install air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Activate air bag system. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
