Testing ETR (500SEL)

- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Locate ETR connector(X11/7) under passenger footrest panel. See Figure and Figure . Disconnect ETR connector (X11/7) from SRS 12-pin connector (X11/13). Connect Socket Box Tester (124-589-00-21-00) and Test Cable/Connector (140-589-11-63-00) to ETR connector (X11/7). See Figure .
- To determine if ETR unit or related wiring is faulty, use high impedance DVOM or M-B Multimeter (124-589-19-21-00) to probe socket box tester terminals as per "test connection" column of diagnostic chart. See Fig 2 .
- To determine if ETR has voltage, use high impedance DVOM or M-B Multimeter (124-589-19-21-00) to probe harness connector side of ETR connector. ETR connector for each seat belt assembly is located behind lower "B" pillar panel. See Figure .
- After performing appropriate replacements, activate air bag. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
