Soft/Hard Top - Preparation For Testing

The following systems should be checked before continuing with testing:

Connect yellow cable of pulse counter as follows: For both 129.06 socket 10 (X11/4, 16-pin) and 129.07 socket 21 (X11/4, 38-pin). See Figure and Figure under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. For component location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS  .

Prerequisites for testing limit switch. Soft Top Control Module (N52) in diagnosis mode:

  1. Ignition switch OFF.
  2. Bridge at connector (X11/12) in front passenger footwell, sockets 1 and 3. Refer to illustration. See Figure .
  3. Ignition switch ON.
  4. Remove bridge.

NOTE: Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position before disconnecting vehicle harness from Soft Top Control Module (N52).

The test in (SECTION 23) calls for the connection of the socket box to the Power Soft Top Control Module in 3 different ways. Connections are distinguished as connections made to the Power Soft Top Control Module connector X, Y or Z. These are indicated in the test as follows:
