Roll Bar Assembly: Removal
NOTE:
During removal and installation procedures the numbers in parentheses, within steps, correspond to numbers inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses, within steps, is used to point out specific components or movement.
- Remove coupe roof. See REMOVING HARD TOP under OPERATION. Remove occasional seats. See OCCASIONAL SEATS (REAR SEATS) . Remove luggage shelf. See SHELF (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT REAR SEAT AREA) . Remove side panels. See SIDE PANELS (REAR COMPARTMENT) .
- Protect fenders against damage with adhesive tape. See Fig 1 .
- Remove cover. See Fig 2 .
- Extend roll bar (up position).
- Press cable ducts on left and right to side (rivets removed). See Fig 3 .
- Remove hydraulic lines on left and right support elements. See Fig 4 . The hydraulic lines must be plugged immediately with plugs (129 589 00 91 07) and the connections with plugs (129 589 00 91 11) See Figure under SPECIAL TOOL.
- Disconnect left and right electrical harness connectors left connector (S83/1) and right harness connector x23. See Fig 5 .
- Remove fastener screws on support elements. It is possible that fastener screws can be screwed out through an opening in the cable duct. See Fig 6 .
- Remove fastener screws at bearing pivots, at top, left and right sides. See Fig 7 .
- Remove roll bar with aid of second mechanic.
NOTE:
Hydraulic line No. 101 is under pressure, cover connection with shop towels when disconnecting hydraulic line.
