Removing Hard Top
- Set parking brake.
- Open doors.
- Disconnect harness plug (1) for rear window defroster. See Fig 1 .
- Within 10 seconds of turning ignition key to position 2 (engine not running), slide soft/hard top switch (28) back and hold. See Figure
and Fig 2

If soft/hard top switch is activated after 10 seconds have expired, turn key back to position 0 first, before hard top removing procedure can be started again at step 4 . Unlocking procedure begins after approximately 2 seconds:
- Roll bar lowers.
- Indicator lamp in soft/hard top switch lights up.
- Hard top unlocks.
- After hard top has unlocked, remove ignition key from steering lock and turn radio and telephone off to lower antenna. The indicator lamp in soft/hard top switch should go out.
- Lift hard top vertically from its attachment points (3) and locating points (4) and carefully remove to rear. See Fig 3 . Exercise caution when maneuvering top. To avoid paint damage, hard top mounting pins must not be allowed to contact body.
CAUTION:
Removal of key from steering lock is a safety measure ensuring that the ignition key can not be turned to position 2 and the soft/hard top switch is without function should anybody push switch forward causing roof locking mechanism to work. If hands are at that moment between roof and car body they can be badly injured.
