Hydraulic Cylinder (Soft Top): Installation
- If replacing hydraulic cylinder, ensure to install water drain cuff on new cylinder. Install cylinder into vehicle and reinstall fasteners:
- Bolt (internal hexagon) must be screwed in with fastener locking compound, torqued to 26 INCH lbs. (3 Nm).
- Bolt (external hexagon) must be screwed in without fastener locking compound, torqued to 45 INCH lbs. (5 Nm).
- Connect hydraulic lines (a & b). See Figure
.
- Pull up cylinder piston rod, using self made hook tool. See Figure
under SPECIAL TOOLS.
- Center piston rod using special tool (129 589 04 21 00) and install pin and clip. See Fig 1
.
- Install in reverse order. Check for proper function and leakage. Top off fluid. See MAINTENANCE HYDRAULIC UNIT FLUID LEVEL
under ON-VEHICLE SERVICE.
