Perform Spark Inspection

WARNING:

Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. In addition fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always perform the [Fuel Line Safety Procedure] referring to the [BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE]. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [PYUL] .)

NOTE:

For the spark inspection, determine the malfunctioning location using the following procedure.

Inspect using the following methods.

PERFORM SPARK INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs Perform the DTC inspection for the ECM. (Refer to [DTC INSPECTION ] ) Is any one of the following DTCs displayed? P0301:00 P0302:00 P0303:00 P0304:00	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	The ignition coil and the spark plug are normal. If any other DTCs are displayed, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (Refer to [DTC TABLE [ECM] ] )
2	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY IGNITION COIL Switch the main power OFF. Replace the ignition coil installed on the cylinder for the DTC displayed in Step 1 with the ignition coil installed next to it, and install it. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [PYUL] ). Switch the main power ON (READY on). Perform the DTC inspection for the ECM. (Refer to [DTC INSPECTION ] ) Is the same DTC as in Step 1 displayed?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	If a DTC (P0301:00, P0302:00, P0303:00, or P0304:00) other than the DTC displayed in Step 1 is displayed: The ignition coil installed on the cylinder for the displayed DTC can be considered the cause of the malfunction. Replace the ignition coil/ion sensor of the malfunctioning cylinder. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [PYUL] ). DTCs other than P0301:00, P0302:00, P0303:00, or P0304:00 are displayed: The ignition coil and the spark plug are normal.
3	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY SPARK PLUG Switch the main power OFF. Replace the spark plug installed on the cylinder for the DTC displayed in Step 2 with the spark plug installed next to it, and install it. (See SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [PYUL] ). Switch the main power ON (READY on). Perform the DTC inspection for the ECM. (Refer to [DTC INSPECTION ] ) Is the same DTC as in Step 1 displayed?	Yes	The ignition coil and the spark plug are normal. Components other than the ignition coil and spark plug can be considered the malfunction cause.
3		No	If a DTC (P0301:00, P0302:00, P0303:00, or P0304:00) other than the DTC displayed in Step 1 is displayed: The spark plug installed on the cylinder for the displayed DTC can be considered the cause of the malfunction. Replace the spark plug of the malfunctioning cylinder. (See SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [PYUL] ). DTCs other than P0301:00, P0302:00, P0303:00, or P0304:00 are displayed: The ignition coil and the spark plug are normal.
