COOLING SYSTEM CONCERNS-RUNS COLD (PYUL) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS A/C SYSTEM OR ENGINE Is a customer complaint [Lack of passenger compartment heat] only?	Yes	Inspect the A/C system. Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY IDLE SPEED Does the engine speed continue at fast idle?	Yes	Perform the symptom troubleshooting [FAST IDLE/RUNS ON]. (See FAST IDLE/RUNS ON [PYUL] ).
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY ECT SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to [ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION ] in Service Information). Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in Service Information).
4	INSPECT COOLING FAN CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION Perform [Cooling Fan Control System Inspection]. (Refer to [COOLING FAN MOTOR INSPECTION ] in Service Information). Does the cooling fan control system operate properly?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5	VERIFY THERMOSTAT FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to [THERMOSTAT INSPECTION ] in Service Information). Is the part normal?	Yes	Vehicles with active air shutter: Go to the next step. Vehicles without active air shutter: Perform the repair completion verification 1.
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in Service Information).
6	VERIFY ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to [ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER INSPECTION ] in Service Information). Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in Service Information).
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?	Yes	Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain contents of repair to customer)
Repair completion verification 1		No	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (Refer to [PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in Service Information).
