Front Seat Removal/Installation

WARNING:
CAUTION:
  • After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)
  • Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.
  • When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.
  • When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS after installing the passenger's seat. (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
  • When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
NOTE:
  • When removing the front seat from the vehicle or putting it back in, it can be performed smoothly by removing the head restraint.
  1. Remove the head restraint.
  2. Slide the front seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.

  3. Remove the bolts in the order of (1), (2) shown in the figure.
  4. Slide the front seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.

  5. Remove the bolts in the order of (3), (4) shown in the figure.
  6. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor. (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Perform the following procedure.
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  8. Disconnect the connector A. (with power seat)

  9. Slide the lock in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, and while pressing the tab in the direction of arrow (2), disconnect the connector B in the direction of arrow (3).
  10. Remove the front seat.
  11. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  12. If the driver's front seat is replaced, perform the following procedure. (With position memory system)
    1. Perform the position memory system memory clearing. (When replacing driver's front seat and position memory control module as a single unit) (See POSITION MEMORY SYSTEM MEMORY CLEARING .)
    2. Perform the seat position initial learning. (See SEAT POSITION INITIAL LEARNING .)
  13. If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (passenger's seat with seat weight sensor) (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
    • Replacement with a new seat weight sensor
    • Replacement with a new seat weight sensor control module
    • Replacement with new passenger-side seat parts
    • Disassembly of the passenger-side seat
  14. If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS. (passenger's seat with seat weight sensor) (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR INSPECTION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
    • Removal of the passenger-side seat
    • Loosening and retightening of passenger's seat fixing bolts
    • Or, the vehicle is involved in a collision
