Diagnostic Procedure

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON OR OFF CONSTANTLY DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	VERIFY SYSTEM DTCs Switch the ignition off/main power OFF. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/main power ON (READY off or on) and wait for 10 s or more. Perform a quick check using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [DSC] .)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON CONDITION Verify if the electric parking brake warning light is turned on. Is the electric parking brake warning light turned on?	Yes	Perform an inspection referring to the [ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON] item. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON [ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE] .)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN BATTERY/LEAD-ACID BATTERY AND ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
4	INSPECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH INSPECTION in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
5	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH AND ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT/DSC HU/CM FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Replace the electronically controlled brake unit/DSC HU/CM and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information.) (Refer to DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CORRECTED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?	Yes	Complete the symptom troubleshooting. Explain repair contents to customer.
Repair completion verification 1		No	Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
