Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure

U2141-00: (CMU) TROUBLESHOOTING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: RELAUNCH CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) AND VERIFY REPEATABILITY 
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/main power ON (READY off or on).
  • Perform the following operation to relaunch the connectivity master unit (CMU).
    • Switch the ignition off/main power OFF.
    • Remove all of the remote transmitters from the vehicle, lock all doors, and then wait for 10 min.
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/main power ON (READY off or on).
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Switch the ignition off/main power OFF, and then switch it ON (READY off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the connectivity master unit (CMU).

  • Is the same DTC displayed or does the same malfunction appear?
Yes If U0162-00: is displayed:
  • Go to the next step.

If U0162-00: is not displayed:
  • Go to Step 5.
No Perform the repair completion verification 2.
2 PURPOSE: VERIFY CENTER DISPLAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (ACC) VOLTAGE 
  • Measure the voltage at center display terminal 1G (wiring harness-side).
  • Is the voltage B+?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
(See U0162-00: [CMU] .)
No Go to the next step.
3 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CENTER DISPLAY AND COMMANDER SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
4 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CENTER DISPLAY AND CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5 PURPOSE: VERIFY COMMANDER SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (B+) VOLTAGE 
  • Measure the voltage at commander switch terminal A (wiring harness-side).
  • Is the voltage B+?
Yes Go to Step 10.
No e-SKYACTIV PHEV or with Mazda M Hybrid 
  • Go to the next step.

except e-SKYACTIV PHEV and without Mazda M Hybrid 
  • Go to Step 7.
6 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN BATTERY/LEAD-ACID BATTERY AND COMMANDER SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to Step 10.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
7 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN BATTERY AND DC-DC CONVERTER FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
8 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN DC-DC CONVERTER AND COMMANDER SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
9 PURPOSE: VERIFY DC-DC CONVERTER FOR MALFUNCTION 
  • Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to [DC-DC CONVERTER INSPECTION] in service information.)
  • Is the part normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to [DC-DC CONVERTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] in service information.)
10 PURPOSE: VERIFY COMMANDER SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (ACC) VOLTAGE 
  • Measure the voltage at commander switch terminal D (wiring harness-side).
  • Is the voltage B+?
Yes Go to Step 10.
No Go to the next step.
11 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CENTER DISPLAY AND COMMANDER SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
12 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN CENTER DISPLAY AND CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
13 PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN COMMANDER SWITCH AND CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) FOR MALFUNCTION 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
14 PURPOSE: INSPECT COMMANDER SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the connectivity master unit (CMU).

    (See DTC INSPECTION .)

  • Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, replace the commander switch and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to COMMANDER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
No Perform the repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1 PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the connectivity master unit (CMU).

    (See DTC INSPECTION .)

  • Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
No Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED 
  • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
