Diagnostic Procedure

VEHICLE HAS POOR WAVE SIGNAL RECEPTION SENSITIVITY (TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 VERIFY ALL SYSTEM DTCs 
  • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN TEL ANTENNA No. 1 AND TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
3 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN TEL ANTENNA No. 2 AND TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
4 INSPECT TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION UNIT FOR SIM MALFUNCTION 
  • Verify the following PID items using the M-MDS.

    (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)

    Telematics communication unit 

    • TEL1_ANT_6LVL
    • TEL2_ANT_6LVL
  • Are the monitor values of both TEL1_ANT_6LVL and TEL2_ANT_6LVL 0 (out of range)?
Yes Replace the telematics communication unit and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to TELEMATICS COMMUNICATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
No Only TEL1_ANT_6LVL is 0 (out of range): 
  • Replace the TEL antenna No. 1 and perform the repair completion verification 1.

Only TEL2_ANT_6LVL is 0 (out of range): 
  • Replace the TEL antenna No. 2 and perform the repair completion verification 1.

Both TEL1_ANT_6LVL and TEL2_ANT_6LVL are not 0 (out of range): 
  • Perform the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1 VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
  • Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?
Yes Complete the symptom troubleshooting.
(Explain contents of repair to customer)
No Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
