VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE IN D, M, R POSITION (ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL, US) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	INSPECT PARKING MECHANISM FOR MALFUNCTION When the vehicle is stopped on a flat, level road and the engine is off, does the vehicle move when pushed? (In D, N or R position with the brake pedal and parking brake released.)	Yes	Go to the next step.

2	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS MANUAL SHAFT OR TORQUE CONVERTER Move the vehicle to a level surface and apply the parking brake. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .) Remove the battery component (ex: battery, battery tray and PCM component). (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))] .) Remove the air cleaner component. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (US))] .) Can the manual shaft be rotated by hand? Courtesy of MAZDA MOTORS CORP. 2		No	Replace the control valve body as the manual shaft (manual valve) may be stuck. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
