Diagnostic Procedure

DTC B0052:09, B0052:11 OR B0052:14 [SAS CONTROL MODULE] DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PERFORM SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC INSPECTION
  • Clear the DTC for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Is the DTC B00A0:09 or A00A0:8F displayed?
Yes Repair the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR CONDITION
WARNING:
Yes Replace the malfunctioning part and perform the repair completion verification.
No Go to the next step.
3 INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the passenger-side buckle switch connector. (See FRONT BUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (US) .)
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the malfunctioning part and perform the repair completion verification.
4 INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect the passenger-side buckle switch signal circuit for a short to ground. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .)
    NOTE:
    • Inspect for a short to ground while shaking the wiring harness between the seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch.
  • Is the circuit normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
5 INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
  • Seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect the passenger-side buckle switch signal circuit for open circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .)
    NOTE:
    • Inspect for open circuit while shaking the wiring harness between the seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch.
  • Is the circuit normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
6 INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO EACH OTHER
  • Seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect the passenger-side buckle switch signal circuit for short to each other. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .)
    NOTE:
    • Inspect for short to each other while shaking the wiring harness between the seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch.
  • Is the circuit normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
7 INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
  • Seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch connectors are disconnected.
  • Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  • Inspect the passenger-side buckle switch signal circuit for a short to power supply. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .)
    NOTE:
    • Inspect for a short to power supply while shaking the wiring harness between the seat weight sensor control module and passenger-side buckle switch.
  • Is the circuit normal?
Yes Replace the passenger-side buckle switch and the repair completion verification.

No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification PERFORM SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC INSPECTION
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • Reconnect all disconnected connectors.
  • Clear the DTC for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are the same Pending DTCs present?
Yes Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW (US) .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
