Propeller Shaft Removal/Installation (Us): Notes

CAUTION:
  • If the constant velocity joint is bent during propeller shaft removal/installation or transportation after servicing, the constant velocity joint boot may contact the metallic cover and the boot may be damaged. Insert a clean cloth between the boot and the metallic cover before servicing to protect the boot.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  2. Remove the tunnel cover. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN L) .) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
  3. Remove the following parts: (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN L) .) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN M) .)
    1. Tunnel member
    2. Brace bar
  4. Remove the following parts:
    1. Floor under cover No. 1 (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Floor under cover No. 2 (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Disconnect the connector shown in the illustration.

  6. Remove the screws shown in the illustration.

  7. Set the bracket aside.
  8. Remove the TWC from the mount rubber.

  9. Disconnect the TWC from the main silencer. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN L)] .) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(VIN M)] .)
  10. Suspend the TWC using a cable as shown in the illustration.

  11. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration.
  12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  13. Perform a road test and verify that there is no abnormal vibration or noise.
