Electric Parking Brake Motor Gear Unit Removal/Installation: Notes

CAUTION:
- Do not remove the electric parking brake motor gear unit except for an electric parking brake control malfunction (such as electric parking brake was forced-released or electric parking brake motor gear unit has malfunction) or when replacing a brake caliper.
- If the electric parking brake motor gear unit is reused, install a new O-ring.
- If the electric parking brake was forced-released or the electric parking brake motor gear unit has a malfunction, do not reuse the electric parking brake motor gear unit. Always install a new electric parking brake motor gear unit.
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
- Release the electric parking brake.
- Switch the ignition OFF while pressing the electric parking brake switch.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US)

- Do not allow moisture, dust or foreign matter to penetrate the connector as it could cause the electric parking brake motor gear unit to malfunction.
- Unlock the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT CONNECTOR CONNECTION NOTE .)
- Insert a flathead screwdriver into the location shown in the illustration and disconnect the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector.
- Remove the bolts.

CAUTION:- When removing the electric parking brake motor gear unit, move it up and down using your hand and remove it. If a tool is used to remove, it could damage the electric parking brake motor gear unit.
- Remove the electric parking brake motor gear unit by moving it up and down using your hand.
- Remove the O-ring.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
