Capacitor (i-ELOOP) Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] .)
  2. Remove the front under cover No. 1. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Set the front mudguard (LH) aside as shown in the figure. (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

  4. Disconnect the service plug. (See SERVICE PLUG DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [i-ELOOP] .)
  5. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. When disposing of the capacitor (i-ELOOP), perform compulsory discharge of the capacitor before disposal. (See CAPACITOR (i-ELOOP) COMPULSORY DISCHARGE [i-ELOOP] .)
  8. If the capacitor (i-ELOOP) is replaced with a new one, idle the engine to charge the capacitor.
    NOTE:
    • A warning message is displayed in the instrument cluster while the capacitor is charging. Continue idling the engine until the warning message no longer appears.

2 Fuse (for fuse removal/replacement only)
3 Capacitor connector, wiring harness
4 Battery cable
5 Engine wiring harness
6 Capacitor (i-ELOOP)
