Wheel Hub Component Removal/Installation: Notes

CAUTION:
  • Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.
  1. Perform the following procedure for vehicles with the electric parking brake.
    1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
    2. Release the electric parking brake.
    3. Switch the ignition off.
    4. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. When working on the left side of the vehicle, remove the auto leveling sensor from the rear lower arm. (With headlight auto leveling system) (See AUTO LEVELING SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness installed to the wheel hub and set it aside. (Without electric parking brake)

  5. Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing. (With electric parking brake)

  6. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See SUSPENSION LINKS INSTALLATION NOTE .)
  8. When the hub support, hub support bushing (front), or hub support bushing (rear) is replaced, inspect the wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT .)
  9. When the auto leveling sensor link is disconnected, perform the headlight auto leveling system initial setting. (See HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION .)
