Diagnostic Procedure

NO USB AUDIO SOUND OUTPUT (ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - WITHOUT CENTER DISPLAY) DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection		Action
1	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS USB DEVICE After obtaining the customer's consent, replace with a USB device that was not used when the malfunction occurred. Switch the ignition to ACC or ON (engine off or on). Is sound from the USB audio output?	Yes	System is normal. (Explain to the customer that the USB device or internal data has a malfunction)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT CONNECTOR INSPECTION Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Disconnect the connector of the auxiliary jack/USB port. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection. Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 8.
3	INSPECT AUDIO UNIT CONNECTOR Disconnect the audio unit connector. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection. Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 8.
4	AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT INSPECTION Inspect the auxiliary jack/USB port. (See AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT INSPECTION .) Is the auxiliary jack/USB port normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Replace the auxiliary jack/USB port, then go to Step 8. (See AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN AUDIO UNIT AND AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT Verify that the audio unit and the auxiliary jack/USB port connectors are disconnected. Inspect the wiring harness for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side). Audio unit terminal 3A and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD Audio unit terminal 3B and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Audio unit terminal 3C and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Audio unit terminal 3D and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals. Audio unit terminal 3A and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD Audio unit terminal 3B and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Audio unit terminal 3C and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Audio unit terminal 3D and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB If there is a common connector: Inspect the common connector and terminals for corrosion, damage, or disconnection and the common wiring harnesses for short to power supply to determine the malfunctioning location. Repair or replace the malfunctioning location. If there is no common connector: Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit. Go to Step 8.
6	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN AUDIO UNIT AND AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT Verify that the audio unit and the auxiliary jack/USB port connectors are disconnected. Inspect for continuity between the following wiring harness terminals (vehicle wiring harness side) and body ground. Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD Is there continuity?	Yes	Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals. Audio unit terminal 3C and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Audio unit terminal 3D and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB Audio unit terminal 3B and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Audio unit terminal 3A and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD If there is a common connector: Inspect the common connector and terminals for corrosion, damage, or disconnection and the common wiring harnesses for short to ground to determine the malfunctioning location. Repair or replace the malfunctioning location. If there is no common connector: Repair or replace the wiring harness which is shorted to ground. Go to Step 8.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN AUDIO UNIT AND AUXILIARY JACK/USB PORT Verify that the audio unit and the auxiliary jack/USB port connectors are disconnected. Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Switch the ignition to ACC or ON (engine off or on). Measure the voltage at the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side). Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD Is the voltage B+?	Yes	Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals. Audio unit terminal 3C and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UA Audio unit terminal 3D and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UB Audio unit terminal 3B and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UC Audio unit terminal 3A and auxiliary jack/USB port terminal UD If there is a common connector: Inspect the common connector and terminals for corrosion, damage, or disconnection and the common wiring harnesses for short to power supply to determine the malfunctioning location. Repair or replace the malfunctioning location. If there is no common connector: Repair or replace the wiring harness which is shorted to the power supply. Go to the next step.
7		No	Replace the audio unit, then go to the next step. (See AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
8	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS CORRECTED Switch the ignition off. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Connect all the connectors. Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .) Insert the USB disc when the malfunction occurred. Switch the ignition to ACC or ON (engine off or on). Is sound from the USB audio output?	Yes	Troubleshooting completed. (explain the contents of the servicing to the customer)
8		No	Verify the malfunction symptom in the symptom troubleshooting chart and perform the other applicable malfunction diagnosis. (See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING [ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM [WITHOUT CENTER DISPLAY]] .)
