Diagnostic Procedure

DTC B1099-11; PARKING LIGHT (RH), TAILLIGHT (LH), REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHT (LH), TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE) (LH)/(RH) OR LICENSE PLATE LIGHT (LH)/(RH) CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Action
1 DETERMINE MALFUNCTIONING LIGHT
  • Operate the light switch to the TNS position.
  • Are there any lights among the following which are not illuminated?
    • Parking light (RH)
    • Taillight (LH)
    • Rear side marker light (LH)
    • License plate light (LH)
    • License plate light (RH)
    • Taillight (liftgate light) (LH)
    • Taillight (liftgate light) (RH)
Yes If all lights do not turn on:
  • Go to the next step.

    If parking light (RH) does not turn on:

  • With front combination light (bulb type):
    • Go to Step 3.
  • With front combination light (LED type):
    • Go to Step 4.
  • If taillight (LH), rear side marker light (LH), license plate light (LH)/(RH) and taillight (liftgate light) (LH)/(RH) do not turn on:
  • With rear combination light (bulb type):
    • Go to Step 8.
  • With rear combination light (LED type):
  • Go to Step 9.
No Go to Step 17.
2 INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to Step 17.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
3 VISUALLY INSPECT PARKING LIGHT BULB (RH)
  • Visually inspect the parking light bulb (RH).
  • Is the parking light bulb (RH) normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the parking light bulb (RH), then go to Step 17.

4 INSPECT FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Disconnect the front combination light (RH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
5 INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
6 INSPECT PARKING LIGHT (RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Verify that the front combination light (RH) and electrical supply unit (ESU) connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
    • Front combination light (RH) terminal C (With front combination light (bulb type)
    • Front combination light (RH) terminal D (With front combination light (LED type)
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:
  • Front combination light (RH) terminal C-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 4I (With front combination light (bulb type)
  • Front combination light (RH) terminal D-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 4I (With front combination light (LED type)

    If there is a common connector:

  • Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
  • Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

    If there is no common connector:

  • Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.

Go to Step 17.
No With front combination light (bulb type):
  • Go to Step 17.

With front combination light (LED type):
  • Go to the next step.
7 VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY Yes Replace the front combination light (RH), then go to Step 17.
(See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
No Go to Step 17.
8 VISUALLY INSPECT TAILLIGHT BULB (LH), REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHT BULB (LH) AND LISENCE PLATE LIGHT BULB (LH)/(RH)
  • Visually inspect the taillight bulb (LH).
  • Is the taillight bulb (LH) normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the taillight bulb (LH), then go to Step 17.

(See LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
9 INSPECT TAILLIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR AND REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Disconnect the taillight (LH) connector and rear side marker light (LH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
10 INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the license plate light (LH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
11 INSPECT LISENCE PLATE LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the license plate light (RH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
12 INSPECT TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE LIGHT) (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the taillight (liftgate light) (LH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
13 INSPECT TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE LIGHT) (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the taillight (liftgate light) (RH) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
14 INSPECT ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT (ESU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the electrical supply unit (ESU) connector.
  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
  • Is the connector normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 17.
15 INSPECT TAILLIGHT (LH), REAR SIDE MARKER LIGHT (LH), LICENSE PLATE LIGHT (LH)/(RH) OR TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE LIGHT) (LH)/(RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Verify that the taillight (LH), rear side marker light (LH), license plate light (LH), license plate light (LH)/(RH), taillight (liftgate light) (LH)/(RH) and electrical supply unit (ESU) connectors are disconnected.
  • Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
    • Taillight (LH) terminal C
    • Rear side marker light (RH) terminal D
    • license plate light (LH) terminal A
    • license plate light (RH) terminal A
    • Taillight (liftgate light) (LH) terminal A
    • Taillight (liftgate light) (RH) terminal A
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between following terminals:
  • Taillight (LH) terminal C-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
  • Rear side marker light (RH) terminal D-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
  • License plate light (LH) terminal A- Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
  • License plate light (RH) terminal A- Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
  • Taillight (liftgate light) (LH) terminal A-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D
  • Taillight (liftgate light) (RH) terminal A-Electrical supply unit (ESU) terminal 1D

    If there is a common connector:

  • Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
  • Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

    If there is no common connector:

  • Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.

Go to Step 17.
No With rear combination light (bulb type):
  • Go to Step 17.

    With rear combination light (LED type):

  • Go to the next step.
16 VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS REAR COMBINATION LIGHT (LH) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY Yes Replace the rear combination light (LH), then go to the next step.
(See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
No Go to Step 18.
17 VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED Yes Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
Go to the next step.
No Go to the next step.
18 VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
  • Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No DTC troubleshooting completed.
