Oil Seal (Differential) Replacement

  1. Remove the aerodynamic under cover and the splash shield as a single unit. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Drain the manual transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT .)
  3. Disconnect the drive shaft (LH) from the MTX. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Disconnect the drive shaft (RH) from the joint shaft. (See DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the oil seals using a flathead screwdriver.

  7. Using the SST  and a hammer, tap a new oil seal (LH) in evenly until the SST  contacts the transaxle case.

  8. Using the SST  and a hammer, tap a new oil seal (RH) in evenly until the SST  contacts the clutch housing.
  9. Coat the lip of each oil seal with manual transaxle oil.
  10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  11. Add the specified amount of specified transaxle oil. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL REPLACEMENT .)
