Cylinder Head Inspection

Carry out color contrast penetrant examination on the cylinder head surface.
- Replace the cylinder head if necessary.
Inspect for the following and replace if necessary.
- Camshaft end play (See CAMSHAFT END PLAY INSPECTION .)
- Camshaft journal oil clearance (See CAMSHAFT OIL CLEARANCE INSPECTION .)
Measure the cylinder head for distortion in the six directions as indicated in the figure.
Maximum Distortion
1. 0.08 mm {0.0031 in}

- If the cylinder head distortion exceeds the maximum, replace the cylinder head. Do not attempt to repair the cylinder head by milling or grinding.
