Determination Procedure

CAUTION:
  • When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
  • When inspecting the DLC-2, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester into the terminals.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable before performing any work that requires handling of connectors.
Step Inspection Action
1 INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the instrument cluster because there is a short to power supply in the instrument cluster.

No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the climate control unit connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the climate control unit because there is a short to power supply in the climate control unit.

No Go to the next step.
3 INSPECT AUDIO UNIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the audio unit connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the audio unit because there is a short to power supply in the audio unit.

No Go to the next step.
4 INSPECT SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO UNIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the SIRIUS satellite radio unit connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the SIRIUS satellite radio unit because there is a short to power supply in the SIRIUS satellite radio unit.

No Go to the next step.
5 INSPECT Bluetooth UNIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the Bluetooth unit connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the Bluetooth unit because there is a short to power supply in the Bluetooth unit.

No Go to the next step.
6 INSPECT INFORMATION DISPLAY FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the information display connector.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the information display because there is a short to power supply in the information display.

No Go to the next step.
7 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-45 AND DLC-2 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect connector C-45.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-45 and DLC-2 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
8 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CONNECTOR C-45 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at instrument cluster terminals C and E (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
9 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-45 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at climate control unit terminals 1W and 1X (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the climate control unit and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
10 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN AUDIO UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-45 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at audio unit terminals 1O and 1Q (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the audio unit and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
11 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-45 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at SIRIUS satellite radio unit terminals L and K (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the SIRIUS satellite radio unit and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
12 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN INFORMATION DISPLAY AND CONNECTOR C-45 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at information display terminals J and L (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the Bluetooth unit and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the information display and connector C-45 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
