Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY BCM DTCs Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM] .) Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to Step 7.
2	INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS Switch the ignition to off. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the wiper and washer switch connector. Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH Inspect the windshield wiper switch. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION .) Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the wiper and washer switch, then go to Step 6. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS Disconnect the BCM connector. Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND Verify that the wiper and washer switch and BCM connectors are disconnected. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground: Wiper and washer switch terminal G Wiper and washer switch terminal I Wiper and washer switch terminal E Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the next step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM] .) Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Go to the next step.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [BCM] .)
7		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
