STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
  • Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2 VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
  • Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability
  • Is any related Service Bulletins available?
Yes Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Bulletins.
  • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step
No Go to the next step
3 INSPECT FUEL PUMP POWER, FUEL PUMP RETURN AND INTERNAL FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT RESISTANCE
  • Disconnect the electronic fuel pump relay connector.
  • Measure the resistance between electronic fuel pump relay connector terminal H and B (wiring harness-side).
  • Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?
Yes Go to Step 6.
No Go to the next step.
4 INSPECT FUEL PUMP POWER AND FUEL PUMP RETURN CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT IN WIRING HARNESS
  • Disconnect the fuel pump unit connector
  • Measure the resistance between the following terminals.
    • Electronic fuel pump relay terminal H (wiring harness-side) and fuel pump unit terminal B (wiring harness-side)
    • Electronic fuel pump relay terminal B (wiring harness-side) and fuel pump unit terminal D (wiring harness-side)
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair for an open circuit, then go to Step 9.
5 INSPECT FUEL PUMP UNIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT IN WIRING HARNESS
  • Measure the resistance between fuel pump unit connector terminal B and D on the component side
  • Is the resistance less than 10 ohms?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the fuel pump unit, then go to Step 9.
(See FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7] .)
6 INSPECT FUEL PUMP POWER CIRCUIT FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND
  • Measure the resistance between electronic fuel pump relay connector terminal H and ground.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10 kilohms?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair a short to the ground circuit, then go to Step 9.
7 INSPECT FUEL PUMP POWER AND FUEL PUMP RETURN CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
  • Switch the ignition to ON (Engine off)
  • Measure the voltage between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
    • Electronic fuel pump relay terminal H
    • Electronic fuel pump relay terminal B
  • Is voltage B+?
Yes Repair or replace suspected part, then go to Step 9.
No Go to the next step.
8 INSPECT FUEL PUMP UNIT
Yes Replace the fuel pump unit, then go to next step.
No Replace the electronic fuel pump relay, then go to next step.
9 VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0627:00 HAS BEEN COMPLETED
  • Verify that all disconnected connectors are reconnected.
  • Switch the ignition to ON (Engine off).
  • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
  • Retrieve DTCs using the M-MDS.
  • Is the same DTC present?
Yes Replace the PCM, then go to the next step
(See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7] .)
No Go to the next step.
10 VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection
(See DTC TABLE [MZI-3.7] .)
