Removal Note

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the oil pan and gasket. See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN (GASKET AND OIL STRAINER) REMOVAL / INSTALLATION , .
  2. Remove the strainer.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Remove the oil strainer.

    NOTE:
    • Main control assembly does not need to be removed for solenoid service.
  3. Remove wire loom guide and protector.

    • Carefully lift up on wire loom guide and protector and disengage the retaining pins from the solenoid clamps.
  4. Disconnect shift solenoids electrical connectors.
    1. Disconnect the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid electrical connector.
    2. Disconnect the electronic pressure control (EPC) solenoid electrical connector.

    CAUTION:
    • The TCC solenoid and converter modulator valve may pop out of its bore. This may damage the solenoid or converter modulator valve.

    SS3 may pop out of its bore. This may damage the solenoid. 

  5. Remove the solenoids.
    1. Remove the wire harness.
    2. Remove the solenoid clamp bolts.
    3. Remove the solenoid clamp.
    4. Remove the appropriate solenoid(s).
