Thermostat Removal / Installation - 3.0L

Partially drain the engine coolant. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L .
Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET TUBE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
Remove the throttle body cover.
Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat outlet housing. Remove the alternator wiring pin-type retainer.

Remove the bolts, thermostat housing and thermostat.

CAUTION:
- Use care when scraping thermostat housing-to-gasket mating surfaces. Gouges in aluminum could form leak paths.
Discard the gasket and clean the sealing surfaces.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Fill radiator with specified amount and type of engine coolant and bleed the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L .
