Throttle Body Removal / Installation - 4.0L

WARNING:
  • Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
  • Throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and cannot be cleaned, or possible damage to the throttle body may occur.
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET TUBE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 4.0L , .
  2. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  3. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the cruise control cable (if equipped).

  4. Remove the throttle body.
    • Discard the gasket.

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
