Clutch Master Cylinder Removal/Installation

NOTE:

When replacing clutch master cylinder, remove tubing from vehicle for bench bleeding procedure.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the transmission using the SST .

Lower the vehicle.
Remove the two screws and the lower steering column finish panel.

Remove the five bolts and the lower reinforcement panel.

Disconnect the clutch pedal position (CPP) switch electrical connector.

Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal arm.

Remove the CPP switch.

1. Pinch the lock tabs and pull the clip forward.
2. Rotate and snap the CPP switch from the clutch master cylinder rod.
Remove the reservoir.

Remove the three pushpins, four bolts, four screws and the inner fender splash shield.

Unclip the hydraulic line-to-frame retainer.
CAUTION:
- Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface wash the surface with water immediately.
Unlock and remove the clutch master cylinder assembly.
1. Rotate the master cylinder 45 degrees clock-wise to unlock it from the support bracket.

Remove the reservoir, the hydraulic line and the clutch master cylinder as an assembly.
CAUTION:
- Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface wash the surface with water immediately.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
1. Bleed the clutch system; See CLUTCH BLEED PROCEDURE - ON-VEHICLE .
