Cylinder Head Gasket Removal/Installation - 3.0L: Notes

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the lower intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD LOWER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
Remove the A/C compressor. See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
Remove the generator. See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L, 4.0L .
Remove the power steering pump. See POWER STEERING PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
Remove the generator mounting bracket.

Remove the rocker arms and the push rods.

Remove the two bolts from the rear of the A/C compressor mounting bracket.

Remove the bolts and remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist. See LIFTING .
Remove the exhaust manifolds. See EXHAUST MANIFOLD RIGHT HAND REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L and EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEFT HAND REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
Remove and discard the eight cylinder head bolts.

Remove the cylinder heads.

Remove the cylinder head gaskets.

Install in the reverse order of removal by taking care of the following note.
