Three-Way Catalytic Converter Removal/Installation - 3.0L

- Raise the vehicle. See LIFTING .
- Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
- Remove the downstream oxygen sensor. See HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
- Remove the muffler and tailpipe. See MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
- Remove the nuts.NOTE:
- The exhaust hanger bracket insulators can be reused if they show no signs of damage.
- Remove the three-way catalytic converter and the exhaust outlet pipe frame brackets.
- Install the exhaust inlet pipe gasket, the three-way catalytic converter and the exhaust outlet pipe frame brackets.
- Install the nuts.
Tightening torque
25-35 N.m { 2.6-3.6 kgf.m, 19-25 ft.lbf }
- Install the muffler and tailpipe. See MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L .
- Lower the vehicle.
