DTC B1217 AND B1218 - HORN RELAY COIL CIRCUIT FAILURE

DTC B1217 and B1218 HORN RELAY COIL CIRCUIT FAILURE
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE POWER LOCKS THROUGH THE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE TRANSMITTER
  • Operate the power door locks through the keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Do the door locks operate correctly? 
Yes Go to step 2.
No See DOOR LOCK DIAGNOSIS .
2 CHECK THE HORN OPERATION
  • Operate the horn.
  • Does the horn operate correctly? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Go to HORN DOES NOT SOUND, .
3 OPERATE POWER DOOR LOCKS THROUGH THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY
  • Clear the SJB.
  • Operate the keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Are the SJB DTC B1217 and B1218 retrieved again? 
Yes Go to step 4.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK SJB FOR CORRECT OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
  • Check for corrosion and pushed-out pins.
  • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Replace the SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
