Illumination Inoperative - Control

PINPOINT TEST 1 - CONTROL

PINPOINT TEST 1 ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE - CONTROL
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK PARKING LAMPS OPERATION
  • Place the main light switch in the PARK position.
  • Do the parking lamps operate? 
Yes Go to step 2.
No See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - PARK/REAR/LICENSE LAMP .
2 CHECK THE MAIN LIGHT SWITCH FOR CORRECT OPERATION
  • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  • Carry out the headlamp switch component test.
  • Is the headlamp switch OK? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Install a new headlamp switch. See MAIN LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMER SWITCH INPUT VOLTAGE
  • Disconnect the Instrument Panel Dimming Module 0918-802.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
  • Measure the voltage between the instrument panel dimming module 0918-802 pin 2, circuit R/Y, harness side and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to step 4.
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMER SWITCH
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument panel dimming module 0918-802 pin 2, circuit R/Y component side, and between the instrument panel dimming module 0918-802 pin 4, circuit LB/R component side, while operating the dimmer switch through the full range of motion.
  • Is the resistance between 0.1 ohms and 12.0 ohms? 
Yes Repair circuit LB/R. Test the system for normal operation.
No Install a new dimmer switch. See DIMMER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation.
