EVAP System Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle
- PerformVehicle Preparation For Drive Cycles .
- Verify theFTP
PID reads between -0.5 and +0.5 in H2O with the gas cap removed. Reinstall gas cap.
- Drive the vehicle at a constant speed between 35 and 65 mph (56 and 104 km/h) with throttle as steady as possible. Observe the Oxygen Sensor Monitor until its status changes NO to YES using ON-BOARD SYSTEM READINESS TESTS menu.
- Bring the vehicle to a stop (engine running) and access the following PIDs:IAT, FLI, FTP, EVAPPDC, EVAPCV
.
- Verify the following EVAP monitor entry condition immediately after vehicle is stopped:IAT
PID between 50-100° F (10-38°C).
- Drive the vehicle on the highway with a constant speed over 40 mph (64 km/h) with throttle as steady as possible. During this time, verify the following additional EVAP monitor entry conditions using theFLI
andFTP
PIDs.
- FLI
stable +/- 5% between the limits of 15% and 85% tank fill.
- FTP
stable within +/-0.5 in H2O.
- Prior to running the EVAP monitor (when theEVAPPDC
PID is less than 75%) the canister vent solenoid is open and the system is unsealed. To initiate the EVAP monitor, theEVAPPDC
PID must increase to at least 75%. At this time, theEVAPCV
PID will then display 100% (canister vent solenoid closed to seal the system) and the monitor will begin to run. Continue to drive at steady throttle with light steering until theEVAPCV
PID displays 0% (canister vent solenoid open, system unsealed).
- If this step does not occur as described, proceed to the following note, otherwise proceed to next step.
NOTE:
During the drive cycle or hot ambient temperatures, fuel vapor (from the canister and/or tank) may keep the test from starting. This can be observed on the NGS tester when either:
- EVAPPDC
PID never reaches 75% with stableFLI
andFTP
PID readings.
- EVAPCV
PID never goes to 100% (canister vent never closes) whenEVAPPDC
PID is above 75%.
- Bring the vehicle to a stop (engine running) and access the ON-BOARD SYSTEM READINESS TESTS menu to check completion status.
- If completed, Evaporative Purge system monitoring status changes from NO to YES.
- If not completed, repeat from step 7 at least one more time.
- Verify no DTCs are available with exception of P1000.
