Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2004 Mazda B4000, 2004 Mazda B3000, 2004 Mazda B2300, 2003 Mazda B4000, and 2003 Mazda B3000. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Make sure the parking brake pedal is fully released. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system by pulling down on the parking brake intermediate cable. Insert a 5/32" (4 mm) drill bit or equivalent retainer in the parking brake control. See Fig 1 . Remove the left splash shield.
  2. NOTE: Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit at the locating hole end of the connector.
  3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake intermediate cable at the locating hole end of the connector. See Fig 2 . Compress the retainer from the front parking brake cable and conduit from the bracket. See Fig 3 . Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit from the bracket.
  4. Remove parking brake switch connector. See Fig 4 . Remove the 2 parking brake control mounting bolts. Remove the parking brake control. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
