Removal & Installation (Tribute 3.0L)

WARNING:
DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
Numbers in illustrations refer to numbers in the illustration.
- Remove the upper intake manifold. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD under AIR INDUCTIONS SYSTEMS.
- Disconnect the fuel line. See DISCONNECT (SPRING LOCK COUPLING) under FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (B2300, B3000, B4000 & TRIBUTE).
- Disconnect the 6 fuel injector harness connectors and release the wiring harness locators from the fuel injection supply manifold. See Fig 1.
- Remove the vacuum hose. See Fig 2.
- Remove the bolts and the manifold. See Fig 2.
- Release the retaining clips (1). See Figure.
- Remove the fuel injectors (2). See Figure.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Inspect "O" rings and replace if necessary. See Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE:
One connector is shown, the other 5 connectors are similar.
CAUTION:
Use "O" ring seals made of fuel-resistant material. Use of incorrect "O" ring seals may result in fuel leakage.
CAUTION:
Never use silicone grease. Silicone grease may clog fuel injectors.
NOTE:
Lubricate the "O" ring seals with clean SAE 5W-30 motor oil to aid installation.
NOTE:
Install the fuel injector retaining clips onto the fuel injectors before installing the injectors onto the supply manifold.
