Removal & Installation (B2300)

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury. Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  3. Remove the upper intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
  4. Disconnect the fuel injector harness connectors. See Fig 1.
  5. Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness from the fuel injector supply manifold. See Fig 2.
  6. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling. See DISCONNECT (SPRING LOCK COUPLING)  under FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (B2300, B3000, B4000 & TRIBUTE). See Fig 3.
  7. Using the Special Tool (310-040), disconnect the fuel tube. See Fig 4.
  8. Remove the bolts and the spacer insulators. See Fig 5.
  9. Remove the fuel supply manifold.
  10. Remove the retaining clip (1). See Fig 6.
  11. Remove the fuel injector (2). See Fig 6.
  12. Remove and discard the fuel injector "O" ring seals.
  13. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate the NEW fuel injector "O" ring seals with clean engine oil. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
