Diagnostic Procedure

TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 Yes Go to next step.
No Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection results.

  • Perform stall test.

    (See STALL TEST )

  • Is stall speed okay?
Yes Go to next step.
No Repair or replace any defective parts according to inspection results.

  • Inspect oil cooler pipes for bending, damage, corrosion or kinks.
  • Are oil cooler pipes okay?
Yes
  • Overhaul control valve body and repair or replace any defective parts.
  • If problem remains, replace or overhaul transmission and repair or replace any defective parts.
No Replace any defective parts.

  • Verify test results.
    • If okay, return to diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
    • If malfunction remains, inspect related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
      • If vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed.
      • If vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace TCM.
