DTC 7: Passenger-Side Air Bag Module Circuit

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Turn ignition to LOCK position. Remove negative battery cable. Wait more than one minute for back-up power supply to dissipate. Remove glove box. Disconnect and inspect passenger-side air bag module connector separators and pins for damage. If connectors are okay and this is a present DTC, go to next step. If connectors are okay and this is a past DTC, go to step 3. If connectors are damaged, replace air bag system wiring harness and go to step 4.
- Connect leads of Fuel and Thermometer Checker (49 0839 285) to harness side of passenger side air bag module connector. Set thermometer checker resistance to 2 ohms. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position and check for DTCs. If DTC 7 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC 7 is not displayed, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step 4.
- Turn ignition off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check Yellow wire between SAS control module connector terminal No. 2AB and passenger-side air bag module connector for short to ground, short to power and open circuit. See Figure. Check Yellow/Green wire between SAS control module connector terminal No. 2Y and passenger-side air bag module connector for short to ground, short to power and open circuit. If wiring is okay and this is a present DTC, replace SAS control module. See SAS CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If wiring is okay and this is a past DTC, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If wiring is defective, replace wiring harness. Go to next step.
- Reconnect all connectors. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Ensure AIR BAG warning light is operating properly. If not, reconfirm malfunction symptoms.
