Oil Cooler Hoses & Pipes (GF4A-El): Installation

NOTE:
Oil cooler flushing must be performed whenever a transaxle is removed for service to remove existing fluid which may be contaminated and to prevent contamination of new fluid. The flushing must be performed before installing the overhauled transaxle. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for flushing the transaxle oil cooler.
- To install, reverse order of removal. See Figure . Install the fresh-air duct and air cleaner assembly. See Figure . Align the marks, and slide the oil hose onto the oil pipe until it is full seated. See Figure .
- In order to prevent ATF leakage, replace the hose when damage is found inside or outside of the hose, especially on areas contacting pipes. Apply compressed air to the cooler-side pipe opening, and blow any remaining dust and foreign material from the cooler pipes. Compressed air should be applied for no less than one minute. See Figure .
- On oil cooler side, position the mark on the oil hose side facing up and install it. See Fig 1 . Position the mark on the second oil hose so that it faces the radiator and install it. On transaxle side, position the mark on the oil hose side facing up and install it. See Fig 2 .
- If reusing the hose, install the new hose clamp exactly onto the mark left by the previous hose clamp. Install the hose clamp onto the hose and verify that the hose clamps do not interfere with any other parts
- Add coolant to the specified level. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING in 2.5L V6 article in ENGINES.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Inspect for oil leakage from the oil pipes and oil hoses. Inspect for coolant leakage from the hoses. Inspect the ATF level and condition. Perform the line pressure and road tests. See PERFORMANCE TESTS in GF4A-EL DIAGNOSIS - 626 article.
